Vin Nexus Center is a pioneering special education school model in Vietnam that applies international design standards to enhance the health, safety and learning of students with special educational needs. The school implements the WELL standard, developed by the International WELL Building Institute (USA), which is widely utilized in global educational buildings, hospitals and workspaces to optimize air quality, lighting, acoustics and user safety.
Simultaneously, the school draws on the ASPECTSS™ design framework, created by British architect Magda Mostafa – a specialized design framework developed for people on the autism spectrum and now widely applied in many special education settings around the world. Accordingly, the school’s spatial organization features clear functional zoning, predictable circulation flows, sensory stimuli control, and designated ‘escape’ spaces for emotional de-escalation. Together, these reduce sensory overload, increase concentration, and foster a sense of safety and independence within learning and leisure spaces.
